From one student to 215+

Our Story

Anointed Academy began in 2015 with just one child and one teacher in a simple mud-walled classroom in the village of Matunda, Kenya.

Henry Jahonga, the founder of Anointed Academy, grew up struggling to access education. Out of that hardship came a calling: to build a school where children would not only learn but also encounter Jesus Christ.

While studying at a Bible school in Germany, the vision grew stronger, fueled by prayer and faith, so he chose to come back to Kenya to provide a better childhood and future for the next generation in his country.

From those humble beginnings, God has multiplied the work. Today, over 215 children come daily to Anointed Academy to learn, worship, and grow.

Some of our very first students are now in college and university—including young women who have overcome cultural barriers to pursue higher education. What started as a small room is now a place of hope, discipleship, and transformation for an entire community.

Our Dream

Lord willing, we hope to eventually grow into a full service university with opportunities from 1st grade through college with campuses in under privileged communities throughout Kenya.

Help us realize this dream for our people by sending us your used laptops and electronics or by sponsoring one of our programs.

“When I teach, I see more than students. I see future leaders who will change Kenya for Christ.” — Anointed Academy Teacher
“I was the first in my family to go to school. Now I dream of becoming a teacher.” — Student at Anointed Academy

Mission, Vision, And Values

Our Mission

To glorify God by providing Christ-centered education that breaks cycles of poverty, disciples children and families, and equips a new generation of leaders in Kenya.

Our Vision

To see children in Matunda and beyond become doctors, teachers, pastors, engineers, and entrepreneurs who love Christ and serve their communities.

We envision Anointed Academy growing into a full campus with classrooms, dormitories, farming projects, and playground areas—impacting not just one village, but the nation of Kenya.

Our Values

  • Hope in Action — Education is a tool to break cycles of poverty and inspire dreams and real ambition.
  • Integrity & Stewardship — We honor God by using our resources faithfully and transparently.
  • Community Impact — We serve not only students but also families, neighbors and the community at large through our school conferences.
  • Faith & Prayer — Everything we do rests on prayer and dependence on God’s grace.
